ABSTRACT
Abstract Background It has been reported that clinical evaluation consistently underestimates the severity of hidradenitis suppurativa ( HS ). Objective To determine usefulness ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in compared with examination and to assess subsequent modification disease management. Methods Cross‐sectional multicentre study. Severity classification therapeutic approach according vs. were compared. Results Of 143 patients included. Clinical scored 38, 70 35 Hurley stage I, II III , respectively; examination, 21, 80 42 staged disease, respectively P < 0.01). In I determined by 44.7% changed more severe stage. indicated 44.1%, 54.5% 1.4% would maintain, increase or decrease treatment, respectively. For these percentages 31.5%, 67.1% Concordance between intra‐rater was 22.8% 0.01); inter‐rater (radiologist) agreement 94.9% 81.7%, Limitations The inability detect lesions measure ≤0.1 mm only epidermal location. Conclusion Ultrasound can modify staging management detecting subclinical disease.
