ABSTRACT
Abstract The Queensland fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt), is a polyphagous horticultural pest in Australia that capable of causing significant damage to more than 100 different host fruits and vegetables. Chemical applications ecological control strategies, such as the sterile insect technique ( SIT ), are commonly used suppress established populations eradicate invasive outbreaks following migration. recently published B. draft genome provides new opportunities identify candidate genes for targeted modification order generate advanced genetic strains management using strategies. Here, we demonstrate CRISPR/Cas‐mediated mutagenesis through generating series frame‐shift mutations ATP ‐dependent binding cassette transporter, white , classic white‐eye phenotype. This work establishes methods CRISPR /Cas editing tephritids demonstrates its potential developing sexing which could be ‐based control.
