ABSTRACT
This study is based on integrative taxonomy and reports a new fish species Dussumieria modakandai sp. nov. from India. The differs three valid within the genus by combination of characters such as longer maxilla (9.1%-9.9% standard length vs. 8.7% in elopsoides, 6.3%-8.5% acuta) one or two rows small conical teeth palatine (vs. several D. elopsoides albulina). It also absence longitudinal striae posterior side body scales presence acuta albulina) parasphenoid acuta). greater than snout length, which distinguishes it other congeners. multivariate analysis morphometric using PCA differentiated samples collected this study. molecular analysis, cytochrome c oxidase I, distinguished acuta, albulina with high genetic distance 13.73%, 12.22% 12.74%, respectively. maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree automatic barcode gap discovery showed existence six putative Dussumieria. Even exhaustive sub-clade formation intra-species (1.59) (1.95) indicate possibility few more cryptic species. warrants comprehensive sample collection across distribution range taxonomic
