ABSTRACT
Abstract Tissue firmness is one of the most important factors in consuming fresh fruits. The plum main parameter to purchase. This study aimed investigate effect dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) cold plasma method on mechanical properties plums during storage time. For this purpose, a tesla system and generation by DBD were used. Plums treated three times for 5, 10 15 min then evaluated five periods 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th 20th days. Also, simulation was used measure plums' bruise volume (BV) susceptibility (BS). simulated experimental BV BS values compared, maximum relative difference 13.12% 10.18%, respectively. In addition, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) utilized microstructure tissue before after drop test. results revealed that treatment 5 had negative plums. While an acceptable impact trend Young's modulus, bio yield stress, tangent modulus enhances resistance deformation reduces tendency caused impact. Practical Applications Mechanical damage fruits postharvest process processing plants quality product terms firmness. Therefore, customers are reluctant buy products with unacceptable rigidity. Plum expensive always influenced procedure such as sorting. it seems necessary provide solution maintains does not affect chemical product. economical, fast reliable maintain Although can preserve disinfection, time have both positive effects. other words, over‐treatment sometimes causes fruit loosen or low‐treatment has been no significant difference. research essential. be useful horticultural increase
