Noninfectious sternal wound inflammation after coronary artery bypass grafting in a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome: A no‐touch approach

ABSTRACT
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare, chronic inflammatory noninfectious dermatosis. It associated with underlying systemic or hematological diseases such as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and can be triggered after surgery. Recognition diagnosis of PG difficult it mimic wound infection. Misdiagnosis could lead to invasive procedures which worsen the disease have possible disastrous aftermath. A 74-year-old male history MDS presents an atypical sternal inflammation. Diagnosis confirmed skin biopsy. No surgical were performed patient was treated on outpatient basis prednisolone, clobetasol cream, cyclosporine. This case shows importance rapid disease. Awareness required for in pronounced livid borders, without improvement antibiotic treatment worsening debridement. Rapid reduce high healthcare costs, morbidity, mortality.
