ABSTRACT
Abstract The gender pay gap is a persistent and pervasive problem. This study systematically reviews the literature on two determinants of wage that have attracted attention more recently: contribution personality traits social norms. Based 39 studies identified, we discuss how norms are operationalized much they explain. We find both important in understanding closely related, most notably, as preferences reflections However, there no clear consensus constructs, what precisely capture to measure them. Thus, great deal heterogeneity results, with ranging from few than 20%. not conclusive whether these factors rather explain or source discrimination.
