ABSTRACT
To our knowledge, there is limited study on the relationship between molecular structure of feed and nutrient availability in ruminant system. The objective this to use advanced vibrational spectroscopy (attenuated total reflection [ATR]-Fourier transform infrared [FT/IR]) reveal carbohydrate properties faba bean partitions (stem, leaf, whole pods [WP], plant) silage before after rumen incubation relation supply dairy cattle. included correlation carbohydrate-related spectral profiles chemical profiles, energy values, Cornell Net Carbohydrate Protein System fractions, degradation parameters samples (whole crop, stem, WP, silage) incubation. FTIR spectra sample 12 24 h incubations were collected with JASCO FT/IR-4200 ATR at mid-IR range (ca. 4000-700 cm-1 ) 128 scans 4 resolution. univariate analysis was carried out using OMNIC software. results show that ATR-FT/IR spectroscopic technique could detect change microbial digestion structure. residues had a stronger less degradable fractions (neutral detergent fiber, acid lignin, hemicellulose, cellulose) while original easily (starch). In conclusion, contents can be reflected its profiles. shows (ATR-FT/IR) high potential as fast analytical tool evaluate predict
