ABSTRACT
Gelidium floridanum W.R. Taylor tetraspores are units of dispersal and responsible for substrate attachment. This study aimed to examine evidence direct interaction between germ tube formation Golgi activity during tetraspore germination G. floridanum. After release, the were incubated with brefeldin A (BFA) in concentrations 4 8 μM over a 6 h period. The controls treatments analyzed light, fluorescence (FM4-64 dye) transmission electron microscopy. In control samples, bodies formation. contrast, BFA-treated samples observed inhibit spore adhesion These also showed an increase volume (≥30 μm width). BFA treatment resulted disassembly cisternae vesiculated areas cytoplasm, blocking secretion protein amorphous matrix polysaccharides. When stained FM4-64, apical region tube, but treated intense throughout cytoplasm. From these results, we can conclude that is formed by incorporation vesicles derived from Golgi. Thus, vesicle organization basic processes essential By polysaccharides, precluded germination.
