ABSTRACT
The objectives of this study were to: (1) document the incidence surgical site dehiscence after full-thickness gastrointestinal biopsy in dogs and cats (2) identify potential risk factors.Data relating to undergoing reviewed retrospectively following submission a completed questionnaire by 12 referral institutions. Outcome measures definite dehiscence, possible (clinical records suggestive but not confirmed), suspected (definite combined) death within 14 days. Logistic regression was planned for analysis association with low preoperative serum albumin, through neoplastic tissue, alongside another major abdominal procedure colon.Of 172 cats, two (1·2%) had four (2·3%) dehiscence. Low albumin significantly associated univariable days analysis, all odds ratios wide 95% confidence intervals. A histopathological diagnosis neoplasia analysis. Of 195 dogs, (1·0%) three (1·5%) In there no between any outcome measure putative factors.Incidence study. When determining appropriateness individual cases, information should be balanced against potentially life-threatening consequences
