ABSTRACT
Objectives To evaluate the serum symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) and creatinine concentrations in a population of hypothyroid dogs at time diagnosis after treatment. Materials Methods Serum SDMA were measured samples 24 healthy dogs, (T0) supplementation with levothyroxine (T1). Results The mean (reference intervals [RI] <18 μg/dL <14 depending on source) 11.7 ± 3.5 μg/dL, 13.8 3.1 11.83 2.87 T0 T1, respectively. higher comparison dogs. Of 1 out had an concentration above 18 12 14 T0. At none two them μg/dL. was as compared to T0, 8 RI (>1.4 mg/dL). In all but one dog, normalised Clinical Significance increased one‐third majority cases supplementation. rarely upper limit when higest (<18 μg/dL) cut‐off employed. diagnostic accuracy thyroid dysfunction requires additional evaluation.
