ABSTRACT
Reports of histiocytic sarcoma (HS) involving the central nervous system (CNS) are sparse and consist mainly case reports describing 1-3 animals.The objective this study was to report signalments, clinical signs, clinicopathologic diagnostic imaging findings, treatment, outcome a series dogs with HS CNS involvement.Nineteen examined at veterinary referral hospitals.Retrospective series. Medical records were reviewed cases histopathological diagnosis included in study. Diagnostic studies evaluated histopathologic samples confirm diagnosis.Retrievers Pembroke Welsh Corgis overrepresented cohort dogs. Tumors involved brain 14 spinal cord 5. In 4 dogs, part disseminated, multiorgan process whereas it appeared confined 15 had variable appearances although extraaxial masses predominated brain. There meningeal enhancement all that often profound remote from primary mass lesion. Pleocytosis present CSF evaluation. Median survival 3 days.Breed predispositions appear vary other organ systems.
