ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Insulin, insulin‐like growth factor‐1 (IGF‐1), and inflammation possibly are involved in cats with asymptomatic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (aHCM). Objectives To evaluate echocardiography, morphology, cardiac inflammatory markers, insulin IGF‐1 aHCM. Animals Fifty‐one client‐owned Methods Observational descriptive study. Variables (body weight [BW], body condition score [BCS], serum concentrations of N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide [NT‐proBNP], ultra‐sensitive troponin‐I [c‐TnI], amyloid A [SAA], insulin, glucose IGF‐1) were evaluated for significant increases above echocardiography cutoff values laboratory reference ranges, associations effect left atrial (LA) remodeling generalized hypertrophy. Results Cats aHCM had BCS ≥6/9 ( P = .01) < .001), NT‐proBNP .001) cTn‐I ranges. Associations present between maximum end‐diastolic interventricular septum thickness (IVSd; ρ .32; .05), ventricular free wall thickness;(ρ .41; .01), LA/Aorta (ρ .52; LA diameter (LA‐max; .05); c‐TnI .49; .003) LA‐max .28; SAA number IVSd regions ≥6 mm .05). Body associated (r 0.44; .33; .02), .29; .04) respectively. Concentrations .02) higher remodeling, hypertrophy, Conclusions clinical importance suggest potential implications IGF‐1, aHCM, but it remains to be confirmed whether these findings represent a physiological process or part the pathogenesis development disease.
