ABSTRACT
Abstract Cardiomyopathies are a heterogeneous group of myocardial disorders mostly unknown etiology, and they occur commonly in cats. In some cats, well‐tolerated associated with normal life expectancy, but other cats can result congestive heart failure, arterial thromboembolism or sudden death. Cardiomyopathy classification be challenging, this consensus statement we outline system based on cardiac structure function (phenotype). We also introduce staging for cardiomyopathy that includes subdivision subclinical into those at low risk life‐threatening complications higher risk. Based the available literature, offer recommendations approach to diagnosis cardiomyopathies, as well management each stage.
