ABSTRACT
The most appropriate endo-therapeutic approach to biliary anastomotic strictures is yet be defined. To retrospectively report on the endo-therapy of duct-to-duct during 2013 in Italy.Data were collected from 16 Endoscopy Units at Italian Liver Transplantation Centers (BASALT study group).Complete and follow-up data are available for 181 patients: 101 treated with plastic multistenting, 26 fully covered self-expandable metal stenting 54 single stenting. Radiological success was achieved 145 patients (80%), that is, 88% 61% (P < 0.001 vs multistenting; P 0.05 stenting). After first-line failure, underwent a second-line multistenting 25%, 53% 22% cases, radiological 84%, 100%, 85% 63% or stenting) respectively. Procedure-related complications occurred 7.8% endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatographies. Overall, clinical 87% after median 25 months.Plastic confirmed as preferred treatment, while rescue option strictures. Single has sub-optimal results should abandoned.
