ABSTRACT
Abstract With the advancement of urbanization, cities are constructing expressways to meet complex travel demands. However, traditional link‐based road network design methods face challenges in addressing large‐scale expressway problems. This study proposes an method tailored for multi‐subregion networks. The employs macroscopic fundamental diagram model arterial dynamics and cell transmission capture dynamics. A stochastic user equilibrium is further established route choice, a decision developed minimize total time spent. Simulations show that new alleviate congestion, with significant effects initial stages. Moreover, guidance strategies driver compliance also influence schemes.
