ABSTRACT
Summary The restoration fertility complex ( RFC ) was previously identified in Honglian HL )‐cytoplasmic male sterility CMS rice Oryza sativa ), and glycine‐rich protein 162 GRP 162) is responsible for binding to the ‐associated transcript atp6‐orfH79 . Here, we engineered a recombinant containing mitochondrial transit peptide, termed Mt‐ 162, as an artificial restorer of Rf gene. confirmed bind RNA localize mitochondria. transgenic plants showed restored with partially functional pollen. We found that expression ORFH 79 decreased plants, while not changed. These findings indicate restores by suppressing cytotoxic at post‐transcriptional level rather than via cleavage presence contribute our understanding mechanisms through diverse pathways.
