ABSTRACT
Summary Receptor‐like cytoplasmic kinase subfamily VII (RLCK‐VII) proteins are the central immune kinases in plant pattern‐recognition receptor (PRR) complexes, and they orchestrate a complex array of defense responses against bacterial fungal pathogens. However, role RLCK‐VII plant–oomycete pathogen interactions has not been established. Phytophthora capsici is notorious oomycete that infects many agriculturally important vegetables. Here, we report identification RXLR25, an RXLR effector required for virulence P . In planta expression RXLR25 significantly enhanced plants’ susceptibility to Microbial pattern‐induced activation Arabidopsis was severely impaired by RXLR25. We further showed interacts with proteins. Using nine rlck‐vii high‐order mutants, observed RLCK‐VII‐6 RLCK‐VII‐8 members resistance P. The specifically culture filtrate (CF)‐induced responses. directly targets such as BIK1, PBL8, PBL17 inhibits phosphorylation RLCK‐VIIs suppress downstream This study identified key factor , results revealed importance interactions.
