ABSTRACT
Summary The annual planting area of major inbred rice ( Oryza sativa ) cultivars reach more than half the total in China. However, how changed during decades genetic improvement and why they can be prevalently cultivated China remains unclear. Here, we investigated underlying changes contributions landraces introduced by resequencing a collection 439 accessions including cultivars, landraces, cultivars. results showed that were main contribution sources Xian Indica while Geng Japonica Selection scans haplotype frequency analysis shed light on reflections some well‐known genes improvement, breeders had different preferences for 's breeding. Six candidate regions associated with agronomic traits identified genome‐wide association mapping, five which under positive selection improvement. Our study provides comprehensive insight into development lays foundation genomics‐based breeding rice.
