ABSTRACT
Testing effector knockout strains of the Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae biovar 3 (Psa3) for reduced in planta growth their native kiwifruit host revealed a number nonredundant effectors that contribute to Psa3 virulence. Conversely, complementation weak pathogen P. actinidifoliorum (Pfm) increased identified redundant effectors. hopAZ1a and HopS2b entire exchangeable locus (ΔEEL; 10 effectors) were significant contributors bacterial colonisation additive effects on Four EEL (HopD1a, AvrB2b, HopAW1a HopD2a) redundantly virulence through suppression pattern-triggered immunity (PTI). Important include several required early infection process (HopZ5a, HopH1a, AvrPto1b, AvrRpm1a HopF1e). These largely target plant hub, RIN4. This comprehensive profiling carries robust redundancy large portion its effectors, covering few functions critical disease.
