ABSTRACT
Structured Abstract Objective Temporomandibular joint ( TMJ ) arthritis in juvenile patients may interfere with optimal function and mouth opening patterns. Clinical assessment of maximal capacity, laterotrusion protrusion is critical to diagnosis, treatment choice evaluation a therapeutic intervention. The aim the study was determine smallest minimal threshold at which differences laterotrusion, between two consecutive observations can be determined. Setting Sample Population Department Orthodontics, University Aarhus, Denmark. Forty‐two idiopathic arthritis. Material Methods Two experienced dentists used calibrated metallic ruler measure protrusion. Each measurement carried out thrice by each observer. Intra‐ inter‐observer variation detectable difference were calculated for variable. Results as follows: capacity 4.9 mm, 2.4 2.8 mm (one observer one measurement). These declined when measurements repeated; 3.3 1.4 1.8 (two observers three each).
