ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives There is limited evidence regarding the appropriate length of a bisphosphonate (BP) holiday to reduce risk osteonecrosis jaw (ONJ). In this cross‐sectional study, we investigated population‐based patterns gaps between BP discontinuation and ONJ diagnosis. Subjects Methods We used claims database National Health Insurance Service in Korea. Among users 2006 2015, incident cases during 2010–2015 with no history last 4 years were identified. assessed time gap from administration Results 1,569 cases, 836 (53.3%) occurred after discontinuation. The cumulative proportions occurrence within 1 month, 3 months, year, 2 years, 58.9%, 70.8%, 87.0%, 93.2%, 96.1%, respectively. drug holidays showed significant difference patients or without comorbid cancer diabetes mellitus ( p ‐value, 0.12 0.52, respectively). However, use injectable formulations significantly affected incidence < 0.01). Conclusions Most suspension, higher prevalence among injection year lesser holiday.
