ABSTRACT
Gap balancing is a vital process during mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (MB-UKA). However, this commonly depends on the surgeon's experience and lacks specific unified standards. This study aimed to propose evaluate novel "measured resection" method for gap balance in MB-UKA. prospective included 49 consecutive patients (52 knees) who underwent MB-UKA from February 1, 2023, September 2023. was achieved by traditional "two-finger" (Group 26 or measured resection 2, knees). The performed measuring thickness of resected posterior femoral condyle medial tibial plateau assess proper meniscal bearing thickness. Data were collected at baseline 6-month follow-up. Prosthetic angles, range motion (ROM), visual analog scale (VAS) score, Oxford score (OKS), Global Perceived Scale (GPE) used clinical outcomes. Independent samples t-test Mann-Whitney U test compare differences. There significant improvements all outcomes follow-up both groups (p < 0.01). Patients using showed better ROM (130° vs. 120°, p = 0.007), VAS (1 0.013), OKS scores (39.9 38.1, 0.013) than group. prosthetic improvement, GPE no difference between > 0.05). reliable assisting surgeons choosing ideal achieve gain ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03815448).
