ABSTRACT
Summary Currently, there are few studies concerning the function of heavy metal ATP ase 2 ( HMA 2), particularly in monocotyledons, and potential application this protein biofortification phytoremediation. Thus, we isolated characterized T a gene from wheat riticum aestivum L .). Our results indicate that is localized to plasma membrane stably expressed, except nodes, which showed relatively high expression. Zinc/cadmium Z n/ C d) resistance was observed ‐transformed yeast. The over‐expression increased elongation decreased seed‐setting rate rice O ryza sativa .), but not A rabidopsis thaliana , tobacco N icotiana tabacum .) or wheat. also improved root‐shoot d translocation, especially rice. seeds transgenic wheat, tobacco, n concentrations. concentration all parts seeds, only ventral endosperm an embryo aleurone. plant tolerance under moderate stress deficiency, levels stress, respectively. seedlings dramatically deficiency. more obvious phenotype monocotyledons than dicotyledons. These findings provide important information for 2, efforts should be made future characterize reduced grains diversity substrate specificity.
