ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Trichomes serve as the first line of defense for plants against biotic and abiotic stress. The HD‐ZIP IV family plays conserved roles in regulating development trichomes different species, but its specific regulatory mechanism tomato is not fully understood. In this study, we demonstrate that SlHDZIV3 SlHDZIV9 are positive regulators trichome tomato, they function a partially redundant yet distinct manner. primarily affects formation long on leaves early formed leaf petiole, while influence across broader range tissues, including fruit trichomes. CRISPR/Cas9 mutants exhibit reduction trichomes, leading to an extended postharvest shelf‐life fruit. addition, both essential jasmonic acid‐mediated regulation formation. This study enhances our understanding initiation provides new strategies improving preservation fruits.
