Orthopedic complications of linear morphea: Implications for early interdisciplinary care

ABSTRACT
Abstract Linear morphea of the limb primarily affects children, and extracutaneous manifestations are common. Orthopedic surgeons often essential in care patients with linear morphea, yet there few reports outlining specific orthopedic complications this population. We sought to improve understanding limb. Between 1999 2014, 51 children were evaluated for an extremity. Twenty‐six (51%) had documented manifestations. Outcome measures included length discrepancy, angular malalignment, atrophy, surgical intervention. Joint contractures most common, affecting 88% patients, followed by deformity, discrepancy; 14% required Despite use systemic immunosuppressive therapy many approximately half extremity have disease. Early orthopedist involvement is crucial alignment preserve function.
