ABSTRACT
Abstract Knowledge on the importance of associations between bacteria and microalgae in aquatic ecosystems is rather limited at moment, mostly due to a lack studies molecular biochemical level microorganisms. This paper discusses current knowledge microalgae–bacteria interactions their potential impacts productivity, efficiency sustainability aquaculture. Current findings suggest that are complex specific. The release stimulatory products by enhance growth microalgae, vice versa, indicates existence mutualistic relations. Other factors, such as signalling may also play an important role. Although these be significant importance, date, only few have been reported use consortia consisting for practical purposes. Interestingly, results pointed out combination often better than using either them alone. Further research needed obtain thorough understanding mechanisms behind microorganisms, including identification active compounds. will enable selection appropriate different applications aquaculture, disease control high sustainable production feed.
