ABSTRACT
We aimed to investigate whether negative social comparisons are associated with key components of the integrated motivational-volitional (IMV) model suicidal behavior. Specifically, we investigated relationship between comparisons, suicide ideation, defeat, entrapment, socially prescribed perfectionism, and resilience. Adult participants (N = 422) completed an online survey comprised a range psychological measures. An initial regression analysis indicated that were ideation. Three mediation models tested based on IMV model, all controlling for depressive symptoms. In first, comparison partially mediated perfectionism defeat. second, defeat resilience moderated when was high. final entrapment moderating this These findings novel lend support model.
