ABSTRACT
We aimed to examine (a) the construct validity and reliability of I nternational F itness S cale ( IFIS ) in children; (b) association both self‐reported measured fitness with cardiometabolic risk. Cross‐sectional study 1145 panish children (9–12 years). body fat, waist circumference, blood pressure, lipids, insulin, level (reported measured). A validated syndrome index was used. An age‐ sex‐matched sample 245 originally not included fulfilled twice for purposes. able correctly classify according their levels (analysis covariance, adjusted sex age used). Test–retest items also good, i.e., average weighted K appa = 0.70. Our data suggest that reported cardiorespiratory, speed agility were associated risk factors, such as adiposity a score. The associations muscular (both measured) differed depending on how it expressed (i.e., absolute vs relative terms). findings fitness, assessed by , is valid, reliable, health‐related measure, can be good alternative at population when physical cannot measured.
