Guidelines to improve internationalization in the psychological sciences

ABSTRACT
Abstract Conversations about the internationalization of psychological sciences have occurred over a few decades with very little progress. Previous work shows up to 95% participants in studies published mainstream journals are from Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic nations. Similarly, large proportion authors based North America. This imbalance is well‐documented across range subfields psychology, yet specific steps and best practices bridge publication data gaps world regions still unclear. To address this issue, we conducted hackathon at Society for Improvement Psychological Science 2021 conference develop guidelines improve international representation participants, adapted various stakeholders production knowledge. Based on hackathon, discuss that funding bodies, academic institutions, professional societies, journal editors reviewers, researchers should engage ensure psychology scientific discipline human behavior cognition world. These recommendations will help us more valid fairer science sociality.
