Pre‐registration pharmacist tutor training: a pilot study

ABSTRACT
The quality and variability of pre-registration pharmacist training has been questioned in recent years, with many trainees reporting dissatisfaction their experiences. A pilot event aimed at tutors from all sectors practice was developed by Health Education England North East (HEENE) 2016 to address some these issues, the overall aim developing preparing new for role tutor.Quantitative data were collected via questionnaires given participants before after training. questions focused on participants' perceptions competence as a tutor across range domains, such assessing trainee progress workplace, providing feedback reflective practice. Interviews subsequently held subset help understand key themes responses.Results overwhelmingly positive, an increased level confidence role, having made positive changes tutor. only domain that did not show shift 'undertaking practice'. Participants attributed this lack protected time workplace support years IMPLICATIONS: Results evaluation imply felt be worthwhile, met needs it potential have impact standardisation nationally.
