ABSTRACT
Summary During anther development the male gametophyte develops inside locule and tapetal cells provide all nutrients for its development. Magnesium Transporter 5 ( MGT ) is a member of family has dual functions Mg export import. Here, we show that mitosis intine formation are defective in mgt5 mutant. The transient expression GFP ‐ revealed localized plasma membrane. These findings suggest plays role importing from essential knockout ABORTED MICROSPORES AMS mutant being an regulator tapetum) tremendously reduced. Chromatin immunoprecipitation mobility shift assay experiments demonstrated can directly bind promoter . An immunoelectron microscopy 5‐His to membrane tapetum. regulates tapetum thus induces into locule. plant exhibits severe sterility while under tapetum‐specific A9 partly rescued fertility. fertility was restored high‐Mg conditions. still ability sufficient supply improve importation gametophyte. Therefore, important transport microspore.
