ABSTRACT
The sexine layer of pollen grain is mainly composed sporopollenins. sporophytic secretory tapetum required for the biosynthesis sporopollenin. Although several enzymes involved in sporopollenin have been reported, regulatory mechanism these tapetal remains elusive. ABORTED MICROSPORES (AMS) and MALE STERILE 188/MYB103/MYB80 (MS188/MYB103/MYB80) are two cell-specific transcription factors wall formation. AMS functions upstream MS188. Here we report that MS188 target CYP703A2 gene, which biosynthesis. We found were localized while was both locule. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) showed directly bound to promoter luciferase-inducible assay activated expression CYP703A2. Yeast two-hybrid electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSAs) further demonstrated complexed with AMS. could be partially restored by elevated levels ams mutant. Therefore, our data reveal coordinates activate plant tapetum.
