ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Mitochondria play a critical role in the production of cell energy and regulation death. Therefore, mitochondria orchestrate numerous effector functions, including fine‐tuning immune system. While are mainly found intracellularly, they can escape confine during process extracellular vesicle release. Platelets patrol blood vessels to ensure vasculature integrity support In blood, platelets primary source circulating mitochondria. Activated produce vesicles, subset mitochondria‐containing vesicles. Study Design Methods We characterized mitochondrial functions platelet‐derived examined whether could impact bioenergetics cellular recipients using an flux analyzer measure real‐time bioenergetics. Results validated that vesicles derived from activated contain necessary machinery respirate generate energy. Moreover, neutrophils monocytes efficiently captured enhancing their fitness. This required functional donor platelets, as it was abolished by inactivation poison. Discussion Together, data suggest produced may other metabolic through transcellular
