ABSTRACT
Early enteral nutrition in dogs with critical illnesses, including septic peritonitis, has been shown to have a positive influence on patient outcome. Surgical placement of gastrostomy tube (GT) is one option for providing early nutrition. Complications, premature removal or separation the stomach from body wall, can result leakage gastric contents into abdominal cavity and subsequent peritonitis. A safe reliable technique GT desirable minimize such complications.A modified method surgical described. thoracic trocar catheter (TTC) an attached Pezzer inserted through gastrotomy incision exited left wall. left-sided gastropexy performed using interlocking box (ILB) pattern.GT TTC efficient, requiring minimal additional anesthesia time. The defect created by conforms well tube. As such, utilization ILB suture pattern enables postoperative period, if appropriate.
