ABSTRACT
Origami engineering — the use of origami principles in applications provides numerous opportunities to revolutionize way we design, manufacture, assemble, and package products devices. By combining with active materials, can create reconfigurable devices that fold unfold on demand. In origami, folded medium is paper, yet many require materials finite thickness provide necessary strength stiffness achieve desired functionality. such applications, it important distinguish between bending folding so understand differences material behavior when actuated. this propose definitions for used applications. The literature reviewed detail context support proposed definitions, examples from our own research specifically, magneto-active elastomers (MAE) dielectric (DE), are illustrate subtle, important, thickness.
