ABSTRACT
Plastic gears bring some interesting advantages compared to metal gears. However, they also have drawbacks, many of them related the dependency their mechanical properties with temperature. Among other reasons, friction between gear teeth causes a heat flux that heats and produces temperature variations within geometries. These effects on response gears, must be taken into account when designing plastic drives. In this work, two different finite element models been proposed perform heating contact analysis, is coupled thermal-stress analysis takes produced by non-linear material. As result these models, field can determined at any running time, as well results, such transmission error function or instantaneous power loss.
