ABSTRACT
We discuss the development of laser induced fluorescence sensors and their application in evaluation water pollution physiological status higher plants algae. The were built on basis reliable robust solid-state Nd:YAG lasers. They demonstrated good efficiency in: i) detecting characterizing oil spills dissolved organic matter; ii) evaluating impact stress (cork oak, maritime pine, genetically modified Arabidopsis); iii) tracking biomass changes intertidal microphytobenthos; iv) mapping macroalgal communities Tagus Estuary.
