ABSTRACT
The FERMI@Elettra free electron laser (FEL) user facility is currently under construction at the Sincrotrone Trieste laboratory in (Italy). It a based on seeded scheme that will provide an almost perfect transform limited beam and fully spatial coherent. cover wavelength range from 100 to about 3 nm short future down 1 (by using higher harmonics). expected be operative late summer of 2010. In this presentation we report layout photon diagnostics section with preliminary tests, radiation transport system experimental area, hall facilities. A particular emphasis given optical solution constrains due need preserving wave front avoid damage different elements, including slits, mirrors, gratings all diagnostic One main problems necessity very large grazing incidence angle (up 45°) multilayers single coating mirrors. These elements are mandatory perform transient grating experiments realize delay lines, where time up nsec required. This issue poses serious problem terms energy density delivered adsorbed by optics great care must taken into choice proper multilayer materials. Some studies reflectivity Carbon coated mirrors reported as well tools monitor quality conditions.
