ABSTRACT
Emerging IPTV technology uses source-specific IP multicast to deliver television programs end-users. To provide reliable services over the error-prone DSL access networks, a combination of forward error correction (FEC) and unicast retransmissions is employed mitigate impulse noises in links. In existing systems, retransmission function provided by Retransmission Servers sitting at edge core network. this work, we propose an alternative distributed solution where burden packet loss repair partially shifted peer set-top boxes. Through Peer-Assisted Repair (PAR) protocol, demonstrate how repairs can be delivered timely, decentralized manner using server-peer coordination redundancy repairs. We also show that protocol seamlessly integrated with application-layer source-aware protection mechanism called retransmitted Systematic Lossy Error Protection (SLEP/SLEPr). Simulations joint PARSLEP/ SLEPr framework not only effectively mitigates bottleneck experienced Servers, thus greatly enhancing scalability system, but efficiently improves resistance noise.
