ABSTRACT
This work aimed at evaluating the performance of three different intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatment planning systems (TPSs)--KonRad, XiO and Prowess--for selected pediatric cases. For this study, 11 patients with types brain, orbit, head neck cancer were selected. Clinical step-and-shoot IMRT plans designed for delivery on a Siemens ONCOR accelerator 82-leaf multileaf collimators (MLCs). Plans optimized to achieve same clinical objectives by applying beam energy number direction beams. The analysis was based isodose distributions, dose-volume histograms (DVHs) target volume (PTV), relevant organs risk (OARs), as well mean dose (Dmean), maximum (Dmax), 95% (D₉₅), patient receiving 2 5 Gy, total segments, monitor units per segment (MU/Segment), MU/cGy. Treatment time conformation two other evaluation parameters that considered in study. Collectively, Prowess KonRad showed significant reduction MUs varied between 1.8% 61.5% (p-value = 0.001) cases, compared XiO. reflected shorter times. percentage volumes each Gy TPSs. general trend had highest volume, lowest 0.0001). achieved better conformality than both Prowess. Based present results, efficient IMRT, yet performance. TPSs goals according internationally approved standards.
