ABSTRACT
In the frame of 1994-1997 Standard, Measurement and Testing program, European Commission funded a research project, named Adrienne, to define new test methods for measuring intrinsic characteristics road traffic noise reducing devices in situ. The team produced innovative testing sound reflection/absorption airborne insulation barriers. These are now under consideration at CEN (European Committee Standardization), become standards. present work reports detailed verification method over selection 17 barriers, representative Italian production. samples were tested both outdoors, using Adrienne method, laboratory, following standard EN 1793-2. cases single number rating recommended by was calculated. proved be easy use reliable all kinds It has been found sensitive quality mounting, presence seals, other details typical outdoor installations. comparison between field laboratory results shows good correlation, while existing differences can explained with different fields mounting conditions tests. is concluded that adequate its intended use.
