ABSTRACT
The nutritional intake of ultraendurance athletes is often poorly matched with the requirements sport. Nutrition knowledge a mediating factor to food choice that could correct such imbalances. Therefore, purpose this study was develop and validate questionnaire assess nutrition athletes. Nutritional assessed using modified sports (ULTRA-Q). Four independent assessors specialization in confirmed content validity ULTRA-Q. Registered nutritionists, registered dietitians, those without training completed ULTRA-Q on two separate occasions. After first completion, significant difference scores between groups ( p ≤ .001) provided evidence construct validity. second intraclass correlation coefficients comparing time points (.75–.95) test–retest reliability. Subsequently, experienced (male: n = 74 female: 27) Athletes also documented their sources for events. total score 68.3% ± 9.5%, there were no differences males females (67.4% 9.6% 70.7% 9.3%, respectively) or runners triathletes (69.1% 9.7% 65.1% 9.4%, respectively). In general, it appeared favored other (73%) over experts (8%) as source information. findings indicate had reasonable level knowledge, but interathlete variability suggests need targeted education.
