ABSTRACT
Background: Limited data are available regarding the correlation between questionnaire and device-measured physical activity (PA) sedentary behavior (SB) in older women. Methods: We evaluated these correlations 5,992 women, aged 63 older, who completed Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Community Healthy Activities Model Program for Seniors (CHAMPS) PA questionnaires CARDIA SB prior to wearing a hip-worn accelerometer 7 consecutive days. Accelerometer-measured total, light, moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA), total time were defined according cutpoints established calibration study. Spearman coefficients used evaluate device measures. Results: Mean spent was lower than measures, with variation means age, race/ethnicity, body mass index, functional status. Overall, measures moderate PA, MVPA, (r ≈ 0.20–0.40). Light intensity correlated weakly WHI 0.01–0.06) variable CHAMPS 0.07–0.22). Conclusion: Questionnaire estimates of have at best women should not be assumed measuring same behaviors or quantity behavior. is poorly measured by questionnaire. Because light activities account largest proportion daily adults, likely contribute its health benefits, further research investigate how improve measurement questionnaires.
