Effects of a TAKE 10! Classroom-Based Physical Activity Intervention on Third- to Fifth-Grade Children’s On-task Behavior

ABSTRACT
Prolonged sitting at desks during the school day without a break may result in off-task behavior students. This study was designed to examine effects of classroom physical activity intervention, using TAKE 10!, on elementary students' on-task behavior. Nine classes (3rd 5th grades) from 1 participated program (4-week baseline and 8-week intervention).The measured systematic direct observation. Observations occurred once week weeks 4 (baseline) 8 12 (intervention). A two-way repeated-measures analysis variance used compare between observation periods.There significant decrease (P = .001) mean percentage preno 10! (91.2 ± 3.4) postno (83.5 4.0) period, whereas there increase pre-TAKE (82.3 4.5) post-TAKE (89.5 2.7) intervention period.Furthermore, students who received more daily were found be than less 10!. The is effective improving classroom.
