ABSTRACT
Hip and groin injuries are common in field sports such as football, with measurement of hip strength range motion (ROM) recommended for assessment these conditions. We aimed to report strength, ROM, functional task performance young elite Australian football athletes.Cross-sectional study.Fifty-eight newly drafted Football League athletes completed abduction, adduction, internal rotation, external flexion testing an adjustable stabilized or hand-held dynamometer. rotation bent knee fall out, ankle dorsiflexion ROM were also measured. Players hop distance, side bridge, star excursion balance tests. compared findings between the dominant nondominant limbs. We found small deficits unlikely be clinically meaningful limb abduction adduction a deficit bridge time. Athletes had lower (mean difference 2.56°; 95% confidence interval, 0.87 4.26) total (2.03°; 0.06 4.01) on limb. There no differences limbs Our results may used benchmarking male when targeting optimal returning from injury.
