ABSTRACT
During adolescence, an adequate diet is needed to fuel performance and support growth development. While many factors may impact dietary practices, there are some positive associations between nutritional knowledge (NK) intake. Understanding levels of NK a key aspect in improving athletic performance. The aims this research were evaluate the adolescent Ladies Gaelic Football (LGF) players determine whether any differences age groups competitive level. One hundred seven LGF completed abridged Nutrition for Sport Knowledge questionnaire. Participants 16 18 years highly trained standard. Results showed overall “poor” among n = 107 participants. Scores total, general, sport 43.5%, 56.8%, 37.3%, respectively. Areas that participants scored lowest on related macronutrient requirements, refueling after exercise supplement use. No significant found or based (16, 17, years) playing level (highly vs. trained). Association “poor,” regardless age, This finding highlights need implement nutrition education with adolescents improve NK. Future should adopt longitudinal approach female players.
