ABSTRACT
Chronic wounds in diabetes undergo a lifetime risk of developing into diabetic foot ulcers. Oxygen is crucial to wound healing by regulating cell proliferation, migration, and neovascularization. However, current oxygen therapies, including hyperbaric (HBO) topical gaseous (TGO), mainly employ delivery, which much less effective penetrating the skin. Here, we introduce an oxygen-producing patch, made living microalgae hydrogel, can produce dissolved oxygen. The superior performance patch that results from its delivery >100-fold more efficient than TGO Further experiments indicate could promote tube formation vitro, improve chronic survival skin grafts mice. We believe microalgae-gel provide continuous healing.
