ABSTRACT
Molecular machines have caused one of the greatest paradigm shifts in chemistry, and by powering artificial mechanical molecular systems enabling autonomous motion, they are expected to be at heart exciting new technologies. One biggest challenges that still needs addressed is designing involved molecules combine different orthogonally controllable functions. Here, we present a prototype motors exhibiting dual function rotary motion photoluminescence. Both properties controlled light wavelengths or exploiting motors' outstanding two-photon absorption using low-intensity near-infrared light. This provides noninvasive way both locate operate these situ, essential for application complex (bio)environments.
