ABSTRACT
By comparison to the cellular constituents of retinas certain other diving mammals, elements dolphin retina include an unusually large number specialized cells. Both cone and rod receptors may be identified. An unusual amacrine cell seen which produces a process that spans cells between inner plexiform outer layers. Most is layer giant ganglion appears serve most central retina. The support dendrites optic nerve fibers range up 8 micrometers in diameter.
