Fatigue resistance is a key property of the service lifetime structural materials. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one strongest materials ever discovered, but measuring their fatigue challenge because size and lack effective measurement methods for such small samples. We developed noncontact acoustic resonance test system investigating behavior centimeter-long individual CNTs. found that CNTs have excellent resistance, which dependent on temperature, time to fracture dominated by creation first defect.
